English: The Camus Cross "About six and a quarter feet tall, it is made of old red sandstone and depicts the Crucifixion on one side and Christ in Glory on the other.
Although badly worn, the front divides into three panels with Christ crucified between the spear and sponge-bearers in the upper scene. In the second panel you can just make out a sagittarius, another aspect of the centaur. As a creature from the Devine Bestiary it may represent the conquest of the spirit over the flesh.
Scrolls of foliage fill the third panel.
On the back, Christ is depicted in glory with a halo round his head, holding perhaps the Book of Remembrance in his left hand and giving a benediction with his right. Angels kneel in adoration either side of him while below the four evangelists - each with a nimbus round his head - hold their gospels."
