DescriptionThe Jacqueline Shop - fmr Emanuel and Henry Herr Store, Measer's Shoe Store et al. - Williamsville, New York - 20200729.jpg
English: The Jacqueline Shop, 5522 Main Street, Williamsville, New York, July 2020. A rare example of Second Empire-style architecture in suburban Buffalo built around 1860, this narrow two-and-a-half-story building is immediately identifiable as such thanks to the rectangular stone lintels on the second-floor windows, the Classically-influenced dormers atop crowned with decorative keystones, and - of course - the steeply-pitched mansard roof. The building has served a number of commercial functions over the years: a general store operated by father and son Emanuel (1793-1877) and Henry Herr (1844-1917), the village post office, a shoe store operated by the locally prominent Measer family, a barber shop, and a location of the Ben Franklin chain of local five-and-ten stores. Its current tenant, The Jacqueline Shoppe, has been in business since 1971.
