Summary

Description
English: After viral infection of a host cell, the host cell is lysed releasing both dissolved organic matter (DOM) and viral progeny into the environment. The viral sweep is the uptake of the viral progeny by grazers which introduces viral carbon into the classical food web, and is passed to higher trophic levels.
