DescriptionThe centre of Hartshead village, Yorkshire - geograph.org.uk - 125914.jpg
English: The centre of Hartshead village, Yorkshire. This is taken looking along Hartshead Lane towards the cross-roads with the B6119; School Lane (formerly called Cross Road) climbs the hill ahead. The building in the centre is the former post office, and it still has the carved stone pilasters and brackets from the shop front. Road the corner to the right a house is called the Old Co-op. These recall the prosperous days when there was a coal mine at Three Nuns and cottage industries of weaving and tanning. Now the village is populated by commuters. The village school is up School Lane on the left side of the photo (Out of shot). The building top left is the old school/Sunday School hall, now a residential building.
