Little remains of the Middlesex Canal and Thorntons Ferry landing site in Merrimack, New Hampshire, on the Merrimack river, because later a downstream dam along the canal on the Concord river in North Billerica caused freshets to destroy swathes of riverbank on the Litchfield side. |
