Summary

Description
English: The Ivy Bush is the closest public house to Birmingham Oratory, where young J. R. R. Tolkien was sent to be taught Catholicism. Gaffer Gamgee was said to "hold forth in the Ivy Bush" in the first chapter of "The Lord of the Rings"[1]. Perrott's Folly stands nearby. This, and the Victorian tower of the waterworks, are thought to be the model for the Twin Towers of Mordor in "The Lord of the Rings".
