English: The transition reader was the third reader in the three-part basal reading scheme in the American Phonetic Alphabet (aka Cincinnati Phonotypy). After teaching children to read in Phonotypy, the child needed to transition to traditional English orthography. The introductory page shown explains to the child, the transition.
