English: Guru Gobind Singh Marg is the route taken by the Tenth Guru, Sahibe-e-Kamal Guru Gobind Singh from Anandpur Sahib to Talwandi Sabo covering
about 600KMs in 1704. This Marg is blessed by the sacred touch of the Tenth Guru’s
feet and supreme sacrifices of Sikh warriors while fighting with combined forces of
Hill-Rajas and Mughals. This Marg has got a very significant place in the history of
Sikhs and Punjab. The Guru transformed the lives of the people on the way and instilled
courage and new energy in the lives of the people.
Guru Gobind Singh Marg in was inaugurated on April 10, 1973 at a state-level function
at Anandpur Sahib by the then Chief Minister of Punjab - Giani Zail Singh amidst great
rejoicing and fanfare. A Mahan Yatra started from Anandpur on April 10, 1973 and
reached Damdama Sahib on Baisakhi, April 13, 1973. This highway was constructed,
connecting 91 shrines and twenty Dashmesh pentagonal pillars on the route with the
inscriptions of the sacred verses/teachings of the great Guru in Punjabi, Hindi, English
and Urdu.
