Inscription reads: "E. B. SCHNAUBELT BORN APR. 5. 1855 DIED MAY. 22. 1913 MURDERED BY CAPITALISM" This marker inspired the book "Murdered by Capitalism: A Memoir of 150 Years of Life and Death on the American Left" by John Ross.

Edward Bernhardt Schnaubelt was the brother of Rudolph Schnaubelt who was accused of being the bomber from the Haymarket Riot (May 1886) in Chicago, Illinois.
