Summary

Description The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Whipple (DD-217) at Sydney, Australia. After escaping from the Netherlands East Indies, Whipple sailed to Melbourne, Australia, and arriving on 23 March, and operated with Australian and New Zealand Navy warships on convoy escort duties along the Great Barrier Reef until 2 May, when she departed Sydney for Pearl Harbor.
