English: Ulster Canal, Clones Road, Monaghan The Ulster Canal is a disused canal running through parts of Counties Armagh, Tyrone,Fermanagh and Monaghan. Built between 1825 and 1842 it was never an economic success & was eventually abandoned in 1931.
This section of waterway is on the outskirts of Monaghan Town & runs parallel to the Clones Road on the right hand side as you approach the town coming from Clones direction.
