Summary

Description The Veazie Dam, the lowermost dam on the Penobscot River, has blocked Atlantic salmon, American shad, shortnose sturgeon, and eight other sea-run fish from reaching their spawning and juvenile growing habitat for nearly two centuries. Veazie will be the second dam removed in this monumental endeavor. Credit: Meagan Racey, USFWS
