| Description |
Rudolph Walton School on the NRHP since December 4, 1986. At 2601–2631 North 28th St. in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood of North Philly. Some wonderful folks who live across the street from the old entrance gave me the following info: the school was 1st closed about 5 years ago, but then reopened to accept bussed-in students from West Philly. It was then closed 3 years ago, and has suffered some internal damage since. They would really like the school district to do something with this building, and if not the school district then have them auction it off to somebody who would do something with it. Also, the original part was built in 1900, and a large addition not long after. The addition has white stone lintels (versus gray in the original) but is otherwise nearly identical in style. |
