„Das Wappen der Stadt Amöneburg zeigt im blauen Schild auf grünem Boden den heiligen Martin auf silbernem Pferd, der mit dem Schwert seinen roten Mantel mit dem Bettler teilt, begleitet oben rechts von einem silbernen A, oben links von dem sechsspeichigen, silbernen Mainzer Rad.“
Der Hessische Minister des Innern genehmigte am 8. Dezember 1978[1] der Stadt Amöneburg im Landkreis Marburg-Biedenkopf, Regierungsbezirk Kassel, gemäß $ 14 Abs. 1 der Hessischen Gemeindeordnung in der Fassung vom 1. Juli 1960 (GVBl. S. 103) das vorstehend beschriebene und abgebildete Wappen.
