English: This is a traditional Xhosa hut called uRonta, it is considered as the main house of the family where most meetings in the family and other gatherings are held. It is very symbolic. It is made up of mud, large logs and roofing is done with dry grass. In an African home, it is compulsory to have your supper in the main house with the rest of the family. Granny sleeps here, we listen to her stories about her childhood, culture, food, tradition and some stories she made up to entertain us! It is cleaned with fresh cow dung that is collected first thing early in the morning and thoroughly mixed with water and sometimes soil, when we want to close patches.
