Wouldn't it be better to change 'precipitate' into 'pellet'?
According to my chemistry handbook, a 'precipitate' is not entirely equal to a 'pellet', because the former can also exist in suspension. When the precipitate has moved to the bottom of the tube (e.g. by means of centrifugation), it is called a 'pellet'. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pellet .
