Cannabidiol

edit

": An outdoor hemp plantation in the UK. This particular varietal of Cannabis sativa is "industrial hemp" which contains ultra-low levels of Delta-THC and other cannabinoids, which makes it useless for recreational/medicinal purposes."

^^ This is not necessarily true. There are some varieties of hemp where the buds contain high levels of cannabinoids like cannabidiol. Studies have shown cannabidiol to be useful in treating a variety of conditions including schizophrenia. It has been shown in several clinical trials to be an effective antipsychotic and anxiolytic. As an antipsychotic one trial found it to be as effective as amisulpride. Also don't forget that many people have said that the association between schizophrenia and cannabis use may be explained using a self medication hypothesis in which cannabidiol would be implicated as having a dominant effect.Supposed (talk) 15:15, 10 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
