I don't know why everybody seems to use the map of Suriname with a default borderline between Suriname and Guyana. The official borderlines are presented to the relevant United Nations organization by the government of Suriname the moment Suriname became independant in november 1975. That Guyana also claims another borderline that is their good right, but for the international community or institutes/organizations etc. to persistantly neglect the legitimate claim of Suriname for the right and just borderline between Guyana and Suriname, is wrong and ignorant. For centuries the Surinamese government (Dutch government before the independancy) acted as legitemate management of the "disputed" area, untill Guyana president Forbes Burnham violently took over this land by agressive force in the late 1960's. Suriname could easily start a war between the two neighboring countries, was it not for the Dutch colonist government that prevented militairy actions by the Suriname Prime Minister Johan Adolf Pengel to reclaim the land. Mediated dialogue between the two countries resulted in the agreement to de-militarize the disputed land, but untill now Guyana never lived up to this peaceful agreement, clearly defined as the agressor in this case by several Surinamese governments and negotiation teams after the internationally signed agreement, called "treaty of Chuaguaramas" (held in Trinidad). The Wikipedia website and other neutral sites should honor the non-agressor role until now from the part of Suriname and at least show both claimed borderlines. This unofficial and untrue borderline is violating the rights and souverinity of the Surinamese people and should therefor be abandoned. At least the two borderlines claimed by both countries should be presented in all cases. The countries claims and their arguments and historical evidents backing up these claims are available at the ministry of Foreign Affairs of Suriname (BUZA) and at the Border dispute Commission of the country.
