I don't believe this spotters post was established by the NGVRs, but by Ross Kirkwood of the NGAWW himself, and the publication of this or a similar photo (despite Parer's agreement that it would not be) of the same post caused the Japanese at Salamau Airfield 300yds away to attack the post, which Kirkwood narrowly escaped from.
