File talk:Roger Williams house in Salem MA USA.jpg

Caption recreates the caption on the postcard but that info is incorrect

edit

The Williams house, so far as I know, did not exist by the time this photograph was taken, and it was not associated with any of the witchcraft trial proceedings.

The George Corwin House, sometimes (unfortunately) called the "Witch House," is an early 17th-century domestic structure located in Salem, but I know of no connection between its 1690s era owner and Williams, who left Salem two generations earlier.

Citing the postcard description without any correction just continues the pervasive nonsense about historical issues and objects that might or might not be tied to the 1692 trials, and sensationalizes a structure (and an article) that have nothing to do with each other.

I'd suggest either removing the picture or re-captioning to reflect the much more complex realities involved.173.76.235.46 (talk) 17:10, 13 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
