Why on earth would one delete the key, the whole page is left without any explanation, as to what the colors mean. --84.75.190.161 (talk)

Algeria

edit

This map seems to contain one mistake. It shows that the already before 1800, the metric system would have been adopted, not only in France but also in Algeria. This hardly can be true. It is well-known that Algeria was a long time (1830-1962) under French rule. But not yet in the 18th century. France conquired it from Ottoman Turkey in 1830. That the metric system would have been in use in Algeria already before that conquest, but not elsewhere in Ottoman Turkey, seems very improbable. -FKLS (talk) 08:10, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Greece

edit

There is a mistake on the depiction of Greece adopting the metric system after 1940. This is not correct, as the metric system was adopted in Greece by 1876 (see: Oka article on section about Greece). However, there was the abolition of old measures for weight (the oka and the dram) taking place in 1959, but the metric system was already adopted in Greece near a century ago. Australia/NZ/Canada/UK

edit

The article on Metrification gives the conversion dates for NZ and Australia as 1969. The Metrification legislation was assented in 1970 in Australia, and conversion was completed in May 1979. Similarly, the date listed for Canada is 1973. The date given for the UK is 1965! So what is the Map using as the basis for its dates. If it is using the date of the legislation being passed to start metrification, then it is wrong, if it is using the date of the 'completion' of metrification, then it is wrong. 60.240.207.146 (talk) 11:42, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
