FläktGroup

FläktGroup is a manufacturer of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and related technologies, with headquarters in Germany. The company produces ventilation, air handling, cooling and fire safety systems for commercial and industrial applications including data centres, life science facilities, educational institutions, offices, hotels, marine applications and more. FläktGroup operates internationally, with manufacturing and operations in Europe, Asia and the United States. In 2025, FläktGroup was acquired by Samsung Electronics.

History

FläktGroup traces its origins to several ventilation and engineering companies established in the United Kingdom and Sweden during the twentieth century, including Woods of Colchester (founded in 1909), Svenska Fläktfabriken (founded in 1918), and DENCO (founded in 1948). Over the following decades, these businesses expanded internationally and underwent a series of ownership changes, acquisitions, and mergers.

Svenska Fläktfabriken became a publicly listed company in 1960 and was acquired by ABB in 1988. In 2002, Global Air Movement merged with Fläkt Woods following the acquisition of ABB's air handling business. During the 2000s, Fläkt Woods expanded through acquisitions, including SEMCO in the United States and Carylair Air Management Systems in India.

GEA Group's air handling division was acquired by Triton Partners and was renamed DencoHappel in 2015. In 2016, Triton acquired Fläkt Woods and merged it with DencoHappel to form FläktGroup. The merger created a multinational HVAC company with operations across Europe, Asia, and North America.

In May 2025, Samsung Electronics announced an agreement to acquire FläktGroup from Triton Partners for approximately €1.5 billion. The acquisition was completed in November 2025.

In 2026, FläktGroup opened a manufacturing facility in Pune, India. The 13,826-square-metre site was established to manufacture HVAC equipment for customers in India and the Asia-Pacific region. According to Samsung Electronics, the facility has an annual production capacity of up to 6,500 units.
