In 1999, Popoy Lagman led the formation of the Workers Party of the Philippines, to regroup the forces who split from the Communist Party of the Philippines[1].
In the 2004 elections for the House of Representatives, it got 448,072 votes (3.5220% of the nationwide vote)[2] and one seat (Renato Magtubo).[3]
