Muhammad Zahir Shah (politician)

Muhammad Zahir Shah Toru is a Pakistani politician currently serving as the Minister for Food in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a position he was appointed to on 7 March 2024 by Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur.[1] He has been elected to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the second time from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the 2024 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial election. He earlier contested the 2018 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial election and was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the platform of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

He holds a master's degree in agriculture from Agriculture University, Mardan.[2]

Political career

He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf from Constituency PK-52 (Mardan-V) in 2018 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial election.[3]

In the 2024 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial election for the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Zahir Shah Toru ran as an independent candidate supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and won the PK-57 Mardan-IV seat with 34,437 votes. The Awami National Party candidate, Ahmad Khan Bahadur, received 16,237 votes. The margin of victory was 18,200 votes.[4]
