Facilities
editOther facilities in Munster include a small airfield that lies east of the R61, many guest houses in the area, a service station and pharmacy.
Tourism
editMunster Beach enjoys a backdrop of picturesque coastal vegetation, which is home to birds and bugs, adding to the biodiversity.[2]
The mouth of the iThongasi River has made it a perfect place for launching boats, and Glenmore Beach is often the site of beauty and fishing competitions. The annual Sardine Run, which beached in Glenmore Bay in 2000 and 2001, attracts such large schools of dolphin that need to be seen to be believed. [3][4]
Glenmore
editGlenmore is a small seaside village situated south of Munster, beyond the iThongasi River and although it is a separate area from Munster, Glenmore shares the same postal code as Munster.[5]
Similarly, Glenmore Beach lies along the same stretch as Munster Beach and therefore it can get quite confusing, particularly as the swimming and surfing bay in Munster is known as Glenmore Beach. [6][7]
In the 2001 and 2011 censuses, Glenmore was placed under Leisure Crest and for reasons unknown, Munster was divided into Glenmore and Glenmore Beach.[8][9]
Recreation
editMunster Sports Club is a sports complex in Munster which offer bowls, tennis and squash facilities. Munster is also home to the Glenmore Ski-Boat Club.[10][11]
Transport
editRoads
editMunster can be accessed by turning off the R61 (to Port Edward and Port Shepstone) onto Munster Road (the single access road into village) while Glenmore can be accessed by turning off the R61 onto the single access road into the village, Kinderstrand Road.
Air
editMunster Airfield is a private airfield used only by the farm owner. It is kept in good order and there is a geocache next to it.[12]
