A by-election was held on 25 February 2012 due to the resignation of Jahangir Tareen, the previous MNA from this seat. Syed Mustafa Mehmood of the PML(F) won with 81,745 votes.[5]

General elections were held on 11 May 2013. Makhdoom Syed Mustafa Mehmood of PPP won by 97,778 votes and became a member of the National Assembly.[6]
