Nanjing University of Finance and Economics
The Nanjing University of Finance & Economics (NUFE; simplified Chinese: 南京财经大学; traditional Chinese: 南京財經大學; pinyin: Nánjīng Cáijīng Dàxué), colloquially abbreviated as Nancai (Chinese: 南财; pinyin: Nán Cái), is a public university located in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.[2]

As indicated in its name, the university specializes in financial and economic disciplines, but also provides a wide range of degree programs in law, liberal arts, fine arts, science, and engineering. According to the Shanghai Ranking, NUFE ranks 11th among the universities in finance and economics in China.[3]
History
editThe university has evolved from a grain school which was subordinated to the Ministry of Grains in 1956 to many iterations of provincial and national grain schools. On May 6, 1993, the name was changed to Nanjing University of Economics (Chinese: 南京经济学院).[4] It was not until 2003, the university became the current Nanjing University of Finance & Economics.[5]

Campuses
editThe Nanjing University of Finance & Economics has three campuses. One on Fujian Road in the city center, one at the new university city (Yadong District) 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) outside Nanjing called Xianlin, and a small campus approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) away from the Nanjing city center in a village called Qiaotou. The university was founded in 2000 by the combination of three universities. A variety of majors/disciplines are available for study. Like at other universities in China, English study is compulsory.
Rankings
editAs of 2023, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics ranked # 4 in East China region and # 11 nationwide among universities specialized in finance, business, and economics in the Best Chinese Universities Ranking.[6] Nanjing University of Finance and Economics has been ranked amongst the top # 400 universities in the world for "Economics".[7][8]
