Wines
editOld York Cellars produces wine from Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cayuga White, Chardonnay, Chenin blanc, Colobel, Landot noir, Malbec, Marechal Foch, Merlot, Pinot gris, Riesling, Seyval blanc, Syrah, Vidal blanc, and Vignoles (Ravat 51) grapes. Old York also makes fruit wines from blackberries and peaches.[9][10] The winery has a separate brand of New Jersey-themed vintages (named "What Exit Wines") that are used to raise money for special events, including Hurricane Sandy relief in 2012.[10][11] Old York is the only winery in New Jersey that produces wine from Colobel, a red hybrid grape developed in France in the early twentieth century that is often used for wine coloration.[12][13] The winery is not located in one of New Jersey's three viticultural areas.[7]
Events and Experiences
editLocated in the foothills of the Sourland Mountains of Central New Jersey, the winery offers a variety of event spaces for groups small and large. Their menu, inspired by the rich spices and culture of Spain offers everything from Tapas, to Sandwiches, to Paella.
The winery offers a variety of wine centered experiences including guided wine tasting, wine and food pairings, Wine and Comedy series (April - Dec.), Hunterdon Wine Train (June-August) and Vintner's Club Exclusive Events. [14][15]
Specialty Wines
editDarryl DMC McDaniels, legendary Hip Hop icon and founding member of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Run-DMC has partnered with Old York Cellars to create a collection of wines and gifts under the label Darryl Mack Cellars. A portion of the proceeds will support the Felix Organization a non-profit started by Darryl in 2006 to help create inspiring experiences and opportunities for children growing up in the foster care system.
