Dr. Narottam Sahoo, is presently serving as the Adviser and Member Secretary of the Gujarat Council on Science & Technology (GUJCOST) of Government of Gujarat and giving a new dimension to the promotion and popularization of Science and Technology in the State. He is also the Senior Scientist at Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad since 2001.

Dr. Sahoo did his research at Regional Research Laboratory (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), Bhubaneswar and conferred with doctorate degree in Chemistry by Utkal University in 1999.

During his postdoctoral work at Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, Dr. Sahoo worked specifically for excellence in science education and communication and devised many interesting science education and communication modules for dissemination of science and technology among children and common public.

He has 45 research publications scattered over a number of national and international journals of repute with high impact factor.

For his pioneer research work, Dr. Sahoo is the recipient of the Institutional Prize (Gold Medal) of the Institution of Engineers (India) in 1998. His contribution to the field of Natural Sciences has brought him Young Scientist’s Award for the year 2000, given by Department of Science & Technology, Govt of Odisha.

He has been recognized for his enthusiastic and successful commitment to public engagement, igniting a sense of wonder about the world by unveiling the interplay between science, engineering, and society.

He is also conferred with Dr. B. C. Dev Award for Science Popularization in 2014 by Indian Science Congress Association. He got the recognition of the Best Personality in Science & Technology for the year 2015 by Computer Society of India in association with Institution of Engineers (India). Most recently the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) has conferred Dr. Sahoo for its prestigious Indira Gandhi Prize for Science Popularisation for the year 2017.

Dr Sahoo is the Fellow of Institution of Chemists (India), Gujarat Science Academy, and Life member of several scientific and professional societies. Presently he has been recognized as the member of DST Govt of India Project Evaluation Group, Advisory Board Member to IGNOU Gujarat State Center, Research Advisory Member to Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI), and Gujarat Forensic Science University Gandhinagar and Research Guide in Chemistry and Nanotechnology at the Utkal University, Gujarat Forensic Science University and Central University of Gujarat

Moreover, Dr. Narottam Sahoo is a prolific popular science writer, digital age communicator and contributed about 1000 plus articles in various scientific magazines, newspapers and social media blogs. He believes in the practice of constant learning and applying new idea and technology so as to achieve new standards of excellence.
