editA paternal family house in Privolnoye was the birthplace of former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev.

editAt Krasnogvardeiskoye, a village 15 kilometers from Privolnoye, in the modest three-story building displays a metal plaque commemorates Gorbachev's former high school.[4]
