Bar exam bombing
editWhile waiting in the Taft Avenue for her friends who finished the bar exam in 2010 in the law school tradition of salubong, an explosion occurred that making crowd shocked.[2] After the said explosion, she was lying on the street with her legs mangled.[1][3]
At the age of 23, with only a 20% survival chance, she had to undergo the amputation of both legs below the knee. That time, she was a law student in San Sebastian.[3][4]
Political career
editIn 2016, she was elected as city councilor of San Juan,[1][3] and re-elected again in 2019,[4][5] and in 2022.[6]
When she was in the city council, she was appointed in three committees as chairperson: Committee on Social Services, Women, Children, and Persons with Disabilities’ Welfare; Committee on Laws and Ethics; and Committee on Public Order, Safety, and Illegal Drugs. As PWD herself, she pushed the rights of those disabled, and by 2017, the council approved an ordinance providing benefits and allotted funds for those indigent PWDs.[3][7]
Personal life
editEven though an amputee, she is known for being a fitspiration for others, according to an article of The Philippine Star.[8]
