Honours

edit

In English we say La Liga, Copa del Rey, Ligue 1, etc.... Please keep my changes as commentators and people who follow the sport do not say the English translations but the proper names of the competitions. Thank you. Rupert1904 (talk) 16:07, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Dubious Information

edit

Caps and goal figures in the article likely contain European cup/Domestic cup data in addition to Domestic League data (this is very certain based on this user's previous edits containing similar information [1]. Please correct this issue and leave a note here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Alfmaster#Footballers.27_European_goals, to warn this person about putting improper information on Wikipedia. --Palffy 21:21, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

correct information can be found here : 43 games in Ligue 1 with Lyon Dingy 02:06, 26 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I also like how he is known for giving a penalty and getting a red card in "every crucial game he plays in." This is true, but kind of derogatory... still funny though, heh. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.12.197.108 (talk) 20:23, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have removed material from this article that does not comply with our policy on the biographies of living persons. Material in a biography must always be referenced from reliable sources, particularly negative material. Negative material that does not comply with that must be immediately removed. Religious categories should only be added if the following criteria are met:

  • The subject publicly self-identifies with the belief or orientation in question;
  • The subject's beliefs or sexual orientation are relevant to the subject's notable activities or public life, according to reliable published sources.

Until there is consensus this is the case, do not add the categories. One Night In Hackney303 23:23, 31 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

As per conversation at WT:FOOTY, consensus it to pipe FC Barcelona to [[FC Barcelona|Barcelona]]. --Jimbo[online] 12:47, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Retired

edit

Per the source (and there's many more like ESPN that Marcospace keeps removing, he is currently retired. Any speculation that he may return to football is just that, and the article can easily be updated should he return. As of now, he is retired per reliable sources. 2 lines of K303 20:47, 3 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

He never announced his retirement. This news is false. As he would interview if he was in hospital? --User talk:Marcospace 5 June 2012 (UTC)
ESPN are a perfectly reliable source. You aren't a reliable source. I suggest you stop edit warring and seek consensus for your proposed change. 2 lines of K303 19:09, 5 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
This information is wrong. ESPN can make mistakes too. Abidal never gave statement saying it will withdraw. This is written in a text does not confirm that, indeed, he will retire. --User talk:Marcospace 5 June 2012 (UTC)
The player is not retired! I elaborate: he was on the 17th, but please have a look at this Spanish news report (here http://es.noticias.yahoo.com/eric-abidal-volver-terrenos-juego-175158261--sow.html, 14 days after the aforementioned available source, on the 31st), he seems to be recovering no? Some compromise has to be reached, with both sources being kept (as in "He retired on X date, only to come back to active Y days later").

I'll also take this to WP:FOOTY, whilst i try to find some more sources, especially sports-related. Cheers - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 20:38, 5 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

That's merely speculation that he might play again (Barcelona's Abidal could return to play again, doctor says). Should it turn out to be true, the article can quickly be updated. 2 lines of K303 20:40, 5 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Friend, you are making a mess. He has not retired, is just away, recovering. No chance of him playing again. He never announced his retirament. --User talk:Marcospace 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Reliable sources disagree. Reliable sources > you. 2 lines of K303 20:03, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Page protection

edit

The page has been fully protected from changes for a period of four days to cool things off. There is currently an edit war between two editors. Available information so far is that he is convalescing from his operation and a decision has not been made, nor announced in reliable sources. Any discussions have to be civil and in the Talk page. Edit warring does not help the project. It's either protecting the article or blocking both of you for edit warring (both perilously close to violating 3RR). -- Alexf(talk) 20:07, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

He's retired according to reliable sources. Also according to reliable sources he may be able to return to football, but that's a decision to be made in the future. That doesn't negate his retirement, it only means he may unretire in the future. The article can easily be updated should that happen. At present, he certainly isn't "a French footballer who plays as a left or central defender for FC Barcelona and the France national team". No other editor had a problem with the word retired (which I didn't add in the first place) prior to Marcospace removing it on 30 May, then edit warring over it ever since. 2 lines of K303 20:14, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
ESPN (already mentioned in the section above) disagree with your misuse of admin tools by the way. 2 lines of K303 20:16, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Kindly justify which part of WP:PROTECT justifies your edit? There is no "content that clearly violates content policies, such as vandalism, copyright violations, or defamation of living persons", nor was the edit made in line with consensus. So please justify it, or revert your edit before this gets dealt with by other means. 2 lines of K303 20:21, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Misuse is your opinion. The place to complain is at AN by the way. You have to be happy that both of you were not blocked for 3RR violation. If he was retired, you would think that major press outfits like Marca.com and the French Sports press would have mentioned it. I could not find such a mention in either place, nor in the FC Barcelona's website. The article is now protected for four days. Please take the time to gather your sources to confirm his official retirement, or not, as the case may be, and to read about the problems with edit warring. -- Alexf(talk) 20:25, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
As per your question, the section is under WP:PREFER. -- Alexf(talk) 20:27, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
That is the question. There is no official confirmation that he's retired. Therefore, the page should be active as a player, but away for medical treatment. Later, if he confirmed his retirement, then yes the article is changed.-- Marcospace (talk) 6 June 2012 (UTC)

How about you too just chill, eh? Your arguing is pointless at this point of time... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.183.220.241 (talk) 07:05, 9 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

LYON-DUCHERE

edit

Nice to be back to work here (and everywhere!). Please note, this club is already senior not youth, he was 20 going to 21, that's not YOUTH.

Attentively - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 00:16, 10 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

  • For those who say (rightfully) i don't use the articles' talkpage: stop adding goals in box, the man is 34 years of age, and let me put it simply to "yous", he HAS NOT SCORED A SINGLE LEAGUE GOAL in his career, stats in the infobox are LEAGUE ONLY!

P.S. Yes, that'll stop the changing of stats... --AL (talk) 15:47, 13 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
