Pedestrians

Transportation says:

No pedestrians [...] are allowed to use the bridge today.

Then, Other Uses says:

Visitors to Istanbul in October can sign up for the 'fun run' at many points round the city and take the opportunity to cross the bridge by foot.

So, which is it? Are they allowed? Are they only allowed in October? If they exist, the Transportation section should indicate exceptions instead of a possibly false/overly broad statement. -Ayeroxor (talk) 04:30, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

English Name of the Bridge

"Bogazici" is the "name" of the bridge. It shouldn't be translated. The title should be changed to "Boğaziçi Bridge" or "Bogazici Bridge". Bogazici is a proper noun.--176.219.135.111 (talk) 16:10, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

The ability to revert the first move away from this title was blocked by an unnecessary edit to the redirect, which should not have taken place; this should likely have been reverted earlier as a request to revert an undiscussed move per WP:RMTR. 15 July Martyrs Bridge → Bosphorus Bridge – As per WP:Common names, the title of the article should remain Bosphorus Bridge, as that is how the bridge is known in the English speaking world. Even within Turkey, it is still called Boğaziçi Köprüsü (Bosphorus Bridge). The name change is not justified and should be moved back, since it was done without notifying the talk page on a controversial move. Central Data Bank (talk) 20:06, 25 April 2018 (UTC)

How Does The Bosphorus Bridge Have Eight Lanes if Only Six Are Visible?

The article says the Bosphorus Bridge highway is eight lanes wide, with three standard lanes, one emergency lane, and one pedestrian lane serving each direction.

Judging by photos and aerial imagery, I can only see six lanes total (three in each direction), plus the pedestrian lane. The article for the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge also makes a similar mention of emergency lanes in addition to the four regular traffic lanes in each direction that one has. There is no indication given of the existence of any emergency lanes on either the first or second Bosphorus Bridges. Also, their Turkish counterpart articles don't make any mention of such emergency lanes. Anyone care to clarify what this "emergency lane" on these bridges is?
