To make it easier for readers, I recommend dating the titles of these articles: for instance, <Second cholera epidemic (1829-1849)>. Then readers can know which article to go to, based on the period they are researching. This way, they have to open each article to find the period. Parkwells (talk) 16:44, 16 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Contradicting Dates

edit

Why does the heading give the time as (1829-1851), but the first paragraph gives the date as 1829-1849?--Drajay1976 (talk) 06:00, 5 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cholera in Russia

edit

The current version of 1852–60 cholera pandemic asserts: "In Russia, more than one million people died of cholera." While I'm guessing this is almost certainly true, the implication in this context is that more than one million people died of cholera in Russia between 1852 and 1860. Is that true?

This line from the Cholera article (which includes a citation) states:

In Russia alone, between 1847 and 1851, more than one million people perished of the disease.[1]
  • [1]: Geoffrey A. Hosking (2001). "Russia and the Russians: a history". Harvard University Press. p. 9. ISBN 0-674-00473-6

It seems to me from reading this that the worst of the Russian pandemic should be discussed in 1829–51 cholera pandemic with perhaps a new section in this article dedicated to the topic, and should be de-emphasized in 1852–60 cholera pandemic. Thoughts? I don't have the expertise to write a summary about the 1847-1851 cholera pandemic in Russia, so I'm hoping someone with more expertise can take this on. -- RobLa (talk) 19:57, 15 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Renaming this page to "1829–37 cholera pandemic"

edit

This would also involve moving the "1840s" section over to the third cholera pandemic article (which would also be renamed). Let's discuss this over at Talk:Cholera outbreaks and pandemics#Changing time ranges to match research by UCLA -- RobLa (talk) 23:05, 25 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
