- Here are some potential sources I found in "AF Press Clips", a weekly clipping service provided by the State Department focusing on Africa. Google Books has binders of these clippings, evidently bound on a quarterly basis. These are the potentially relevant clippings from the last quarter of 1981:
AF Press Clips volume 16 issues 40-51 publication date title search value Washington Post 11/26/1981 Mercenaries Thwarted in Seychelles "Mercenaries Thwarted in Seychelles" Chicago Tribune 11/27/1981 45 Mercenaries flee; Seychelles coup plot fails "Seychelles coup plot fails" New York Times 12/3/1981 Pretoria Frees 39 in Seychelles Plot "Pretoria Frees 39 in Seychelles Plot" The Sun 12/3/1981 Prisoner held by Seychelles says Kenya Plotted coup "Prisoner held by Seychelles says Kenya" New York Times 12/6/1981 Mauritius Sees Seychelles Meddling "Mauritius Sees Seychelles Meddling" Christian Science Monitor 12/7/1981 S. Africans question government's denial of role in Seychelles coup "denial of role in Seychelles coup" New York Times 12/7/1981 Pretoria and Neighbors "Pretoria and Neighbors"
I've included a search parameter (keep the quotation marks for best results) to simplify finding the articles. Note that some articles may be split, the title search should find both parts. Some stories may not display exactly as expected. Fabrickator (talk) 02:47, 23 April 2021 (UTC)
- I am a little perplexed by the edit summary associated with the 12:45, 11 April 2021 edit of this article. Although the edit summary states that a particular "claim is made on pages 268 and 269 of William Blum's 'Killing Hope' which itself cites the official trial as reported in the New York Times and The Guardian", I don't see any mention of The New York Times or The Guardian, just the Durban Sunday Tribune. Additionally, it is not clear which claim this source is supposed to provide. (Killing Hope is accessible through archive.org at https://archive.org/details/isbn_9781567512526/page/267/mode/2up.) Durban nearer than Zimbabwe
editThe article states as fact that Durban, South Africa was closer than Zimbabwe. This seems to me to be false- I wonder if I'm missing something, if it was a deception, etc. but no part of Zimbabwe is further from the airport than Durban. Nelsonblaha (talk) 15:27, 21 December 2023 (UTC)
