Fair use rationale for Image:79d04faa93a51a2e839ba120cbb510f3.jpg
editImage:79d04faa93a51a2e839ba120cbb510f3.jpg sbeing used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Road to the final- Roma
editThat it was revealed in 2011 that Roma bribed the referee isn't the best way of phrasing it, as it was alleged for a long time previously, though the only source I can find on it is this:
http://www.voicesinfootball.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=64
It isn't a new admission by Viola, he just repeated something that was already known, and having been so long ago, until someone interviews Vautrot, it can't be proven whether or not he took the bribe, or whether it influenced the match. How can this be rephrased more accurately?
Also, what actually are these Ponting and Liversedge books that are constantly referenced all over Liverpool-related? Wannabe rockstar (talk) 21:29, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough, the books document the history of Liverpool FC. I don't really understand what you're asking, as the last bit doesn't make any sense. NapHit (talk) 10:27, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
- Pardon me, I meant to type "Liverpool-related articles." The reason I bring it up is that it makes sense to use it to reference, for example, when a goal was scored, but "The opening passages of the match were tentative. Faced with a hostile atmosphere, Liverpool were content to sit back and frustrate Roma" is opinion. The problem with using books as a reference, especially books that tell the story from one point of view, is that nobody can check up on the claims made without going out and buying the book. - Well, well! As it happens, the entire Roma 3-0 Dundee United match is available on YouTube in 10 parts, starting here:

The commentary is in Italian (by Nando Martinelli), but the entire match is there. I kept waiting and waiting for the referee to influence the match in Roma's favour, or to notice a pattern of inconsistent calls in Roma's favour, but there is absolutely nothing. A brief summary of the match's 'incidents':
4:00 of part 1, Dundee player is booked for a tackle from behind on Bruno Conti
8:13 of part 1, Bruno Conti's goal is disallowed for offside, Roberto Pruzzo was in an offside position and the shot came close to his feet
0:26 of part 3, Roberto Pruzzo scores for Roma
9:39 of part 3, Francesco Graziani goes down in the box, free kick to Dundee for simulation
7:30 of part 4, Roberto Pruzzo scores again for Roma
10:19 of part 5, Cerezo appeals for a penalty, goal kick
0:10 of part 6, Aldo Maldera booked, suspended for final
10:10 of part 6, Roberto Pruzzo taken down by the goalkeeper as he rounds him, penalty converted by Agostino Di Bartolomei
The referee had many chances to influence the match in Roma's favour but didn't. He was strict, like most "continental" referees in the 80s, but extremely consistent.
I realize this is not a forum to discuss events, but as you'll note, I've removed the assertion that Dundee Utd disputed the penalty, because as the video shows, they didn't (and as I'm sure you'll agree upon seeing the video, they had nothing to dispute). I think the line in the introduction should stay though, because it only reports the fact of the accusation, which is a significant one. Good article?
editHow does an article full of opinionated match description, grammatical errors and that uses tabloid papers and Liverpool fan publications for sources become a good article? WikiProject Football is run by a bunch of retired EPL fans who ensure that football-related articles read more like columns from Match magazine than encyclopedia articles.
