Isn't this word a proper noun?

i.e.: "Chikungunya"? Terry Thorgaard (talk) 18:15, 7 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal

edit

As there is a Wikipedia article that discusses global Chikungunya outbreaks and this article discusses outbreaks during 2013-2014 in one region (the Caribbean and surrounding areas), I would like to propose to merge both articles.

I think that the information found here is quite interesting and it would probably be read by more people if it is part of the larger and more general article.

What do you think?

@TomCab81:I think this article should be titled "2013-14 chikungunya outbreak in the Americas" since this was the first entry into the Americas and that is historically important. There was no worldwide outbreak in 2013-2014, it was already present in most other areas of the world. Then it could stand as an article on its own and be expanded with more about movement onto another continent. juanTamad (talk) 02:56, 11 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Flag icons in infobox

edit

I removed these recently and Horse Eye Jack re-inserted. MOS:INFOBOXFLAG is pretty clear that we shouldn't have flag icons in an infobox, and we're meant to follow the Manual of Style. This isn't some optional extra: it's a core Wikipedia guideline. Numerous other outbreak articles do without flag icons just fine. It was the conclusion of many editors over many years who wrote the Manual of Style that flag icons add confusion. Bondegezou (talk) 10:35, 27 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
