Copy-edit and tidy-up
I've finished a GOCE requested copy-edit, which Courtesy ping: Shoot for the Stars requested here. Because much of the article repeated and had much of the text and citations available in Elliot Rodger, I have done the following:
- Moved the section about Rodger to the top, merged several subsections, removed and summarised text, and removed excess citations;
- Merged the former sections "Response" and "Reactions"; these are pretty much the same thing; merged and/or removed some subsections there;
- Merged the former section "Events after attacks" with "Aftermath"; these are pretty much the same thing. I merged and/or removed some subsections, integrated material, etc.
If anyone wants my pre-tidy-up copy-edited version, it's here. Almost all of the text and refs I removed are available at Elliot Rodger. I don't plan to do any more work on either this article or the Rodger one. I hope the copy-edit and cleanup are useful improvements. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 04:27, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
Elliot Rodger manifesto.jpg
Doesn't the photo violate the copyright of Rodger's estate? It's clearly not uploaded as being fair use Trade (talk) 22:05, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- Trade It was sent to me by the Santa Barabara Sheriff's Office via FOIA request. The picture I was sent was the printed 137-page version the Santa Barbara Police found in his apartment in his room. The Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office took the photo and it was sent to me by them. If you look at the original photo I uploaded, it literally shows the printed version of his manifesto being submitted into evidence by the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office. How does it violate copyright when they are the ones who own the copyright of this evidence, and the reason explicitly says it was sent by them? And how does a mass murderer leave behind an estate? I have never of that before ever. Shoot for the Stars (talk) 23:14, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- Estates magically doesn't magically dissapear once people commit a crime. That would be silly Trade (talk) 23:34, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- Rather than removing the photo i have moved the discussion to Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2024 November 10. Feel free to comment there @Shoot for the Stars:--Trade (talk) 23:50, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
