New Look for season summaries, reports and calendar.
editHi There!
I've notice that user:Prisonermonkeys recently changed completely the look of the article, by including stages and length to the calendar, and separating the summary with the report. Now, I must admit that it is better this way (in fact, I suggested something like this a couple of months ago in the project), I think that for such a change we should have a consensus. Or at least give notice before doing it. MNSZ (talk) 01:00, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- @MNSZ — I mostly did it because I found that the rally summary tables to be too unwieldy. They contained massive amounts of information, and were out of step with the other motorsport season pages. No other championship gives a full podium plus race times, entries and finishers. So I decided to cut it back, but I felt that the number of stages and competitive kilometres was useful, so I moved it to the calendar. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 06:01, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- I think we can improve on this new tables with info that I think is relevant for Rallies competitions, as I see in other webpages and infografs/statistics.
For example, in the calendar table, we could add the Entries and finishers:
Round | Dates | Rally name | Rally headquarters | Surface | Stages | Distance | Entries | ||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Start | Finish | Starters | Finishers | ||||||
1 | 22 January | 24 January | 84ème Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo | Gap, Hautes-Alpes | Mixed | 16 | 337.59km | 88 | 63 |
2 | 12 February | 14 February | 64th Rally Sweden | Karlstad, Värmland | Snow | 121a | 226.48km1b | 50 | 37 |
3 | 4 March | 6 March | 30º Rally Guanajuato México | León, Guanajuato | Gravel | 21 | 399.67km | 28 | 20 |
4 | 22 April | 24 April | 36º Rally Argentina | Villa Carlos Paz, Córdoba | Gravel | ||||
5 | 20 May | 22 May | 50º Rally de Portugal | Matosinhos, Porto | Gravel | ||||

9 | 19 August | 21 August | 34. ADAC Rallye Deutschland | Trier, Rhineland-Palatinate | Tarmac | ||||
10 | 9 September | 11 September | 19th China Rally | Beijing, Hebei | Tarmac | ||||
11 | 30 September | 2 October | 59ème Tour de Corse – Rallye de France | Ajaccio, Corse-du-Sud | Tarmac | ||||
12 | 14 October | 16 October | 52º Rally RACC Catalunya – Costa Daurada | Salou, Tarragona | Mixed | ||||
13 | 28 October | 30 October | 72nd Wales Rally GB | Deeside, Flintshire | Gravel | ||||
14 | 18 November | 20 November | 25th Rally Australia | Coffs Harbour, New South Wales | Gravel |
- Notes
- ^1 – The Rally Sweden was shortened due to warm weather conditions turning frozen roads into soft, muddy gravel.[1]
And for the season summaries, we could add the winning car also:
Round | Event name | Winning driver | Winning co-driver | Winning manufacturer | Winning car | Winning time | Report |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 84ème Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo | Sébastien Ogier | Julien Ingrassia | Volkswagen Motorsport | Volkswagen Polo R WRC | 3:49:53.1 | Report |
2 | 61st Rally Sweden | Sébastien Ogier | Julien Ingrassia | Volkswagen Motorsport | Volkswagen Polo R WRC | 1:59:47.4 | Report |
3 | 30º Rally Guanajuato México | Jari-Matti Latvala | Miikka Anttila | Volkswagen Motorsport | Volkswagen Polo R WRC | 4:25:57.4 | Report |
What do you think? MNSZ (talk) 23:39, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
- I think that the entries column is TRIVIA. I mean, we only focus on the dozen or so WRC entries in the article. A lot of the privateers who enter single rounds don't have much bearing on the season. If anywhere is an appropriate place for it, I would say that it should go in individual rally articles.
- As for the cars, it's already covered elsewhere as to who is driving what. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 04:48, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

Abu Dhabi Total WRT nationality?
editWhen listing the official WRC website I've stumbled across the teams section and one of the teams - Abu Dhabi Total World Rally Team - was listed as a team with an United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi) racing license. Also there is no acknowledgement of PH-Sport (French preperator) running the opperations for the team. So what nationality should this team have - UAE or French? Ivaneurope (talk) 20:40, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
In this news from the official Citroen Racing website, it is clear that PH Sport is running the team, so I think it should have a French Nationality. Citröen Racing Website News MNSZ (talk) 13:02, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
Numbers in non-Manufacturers Entries
editHi There!
I was thinking: Is it really needed to showcase the numbers of the drivers on the "Major entries ineligible to score manufacturer points" table? I think that it will be a lot more organized if we took of the numbers, as several drivers have run with different numbers in different events. This will not affect the table for Manufacturer Entries. What do you think? MNSZ (talk) 01:36, 22 October 2016 (UTC)
- Changes should not be made because they offer an aesthetic appeal to an aeticle. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 21:35, 27 October 2016 (UTC)
