- 2020 City of Melbourne election → 2020 Melbourne City Council election
- 2016 City of Melbourne election → 2016 Melbourne City Council election
- 2012 City of Melbourne election → 2012 Melbourne City Council election
- 2008 City of Melbourne election → 2008 Melbourne City Council election
- 2021 Sydney local elections → 2021 Sydney City Council election
- 2016 Sydney local elections → 2016 Sydney City Council election
- 2017 Greater Geelong local election → 2017 Greater Geelong City Council election
– Like all other election pages, the general style of an election page name is YEAR/Place/election type (following a wide discussion a few years ago), eg 2007 Australian federal election instead of Australian federal election, 2007.
This should apply on this page and ones listed below. Having "Melbourne" instead of "City" as the word after the year is more accurate to the above style and arguably looks better visually.
I propose the following moves:
- 2020 City of Melbourne election → 2020 Melbourne City Council election
- 2016 City of Melbourne election → 2016 Melbourne City Council election
- 2012 City of Melbourne election → 2012 Melbourne City Council election
- 2008 City of Melbourne election → 2008 Melbourne City Council election
- 2021 Sydney local elections → 2021 Sydney City Council election
- 2016 Sydney local elections → 2016 Sydney City Council election
- 2017 Greater Geelong local election → 2017 Greater Geelong City Council election
Additionally, it's worth mentioning that this proposed style is used by the respective state electoral commissioners - putting the LGA name first instead of the description of City, Shire, etc

- Support - I see no reason why not to do this. VEC formatting doesnt match with the current titles AmNowEurovision (talk) 03:05, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- Support as this brings them in line with standard naming formats for local elections. Number 57 08:43, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. These are not just elections for the city council, they are mayoral elections as well. This RM was already rejected at RM/TR, and is just a solution looking for a problem. — Amakuru (talk) 10:19, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- The 2022 Australian federal election had elections for both the House of Reps and the Senate but we don't call it "2022 Australian federal elections" do we? Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 13:36, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
OpposeThe federal election title is inclusive of both federal legislative bodies, but the proposed here are not inclusive of everyone on the ballot, unless it would make sense to cover 2020 Melbourne mayoral election separately. (t · c) buidhe 23:26, 7 December 2023 (UTC)- Would you accept "2020 Melbourne City Council elections" then? My biggest gripe is the name format not election/elections Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 23:45, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
- I don't live in Australia, but where I am the mayor, city council, and other offices can be on the same ballot. I would think it misleading to have a wikipedia about the "XXXX year YYYY city council election(s)" if it covered more than just the elections for city council. (t · c) buidhe 10:03, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
- Worth mentioning in Melbourne and pretty much across Australia - the mayor is part of the council:
- "The Council consists of a lord mayor, a deputy lord mayor and nine councillors" https://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/about-council/Pages/about-council.aspx#:~:text=Melbourne%20City%20Council%20is%20the,lord%20mayor%20and%20nine%20councillors.
- It's not like a seperate presidential office Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 11:09, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
- If that's the case, I withdraw my oppose. (t · c) buidhe 19:34, 8 December 2023 (UTC)

- Comment: I have turned this into a full multi-move request, so that the other pages get the notification placed (see WP:RMCI#Moves of other pages), and relisted. BegbertBiggs (talk) 12:27, 16 December 2023 (UTC)
