544 ARTW and USS liberty incident
editThe extensive description of one person’s experience with information about the USS Liberty incident is too detailed for the scope of this article and the main mission of the 544th. The involvement of the 544th in the Cuban Missile Crisis is a much better topic to go into detail on. Page 107 of this link has some info, although it is a bit hyped as to who knew about this activity. https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015017642482&view=1up&seq=1 I was a photo interpreter in the 544th from 70-73 and knew about Cuba as unit history, but not a thing about the Liberty incident.
