Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request its removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

"MECA"

edit

I suppose that "MECA" 105 mm gun is instead from "MECAR". Lastdingo (talk) 00:07, 14 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Light tank

edit

This vehicle is not a tank - tanks are tracked vehicles. Its an AFV. Deathlibrarian (talk) 21:59, 9 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I agree @Deathlibrarian. A defining feature of tanks is their mobility. Tracked vehicles have notably better mobility over wheeled ones. A paper from the Federation of American Scientists, The Wheel Versus Track Dilemma, highlights some of the differences between tracked and wheeled vehicles. [1]https://man.fas.org/dod-101/sys/land/docs/2wheels98.pdf. An article from popular mechanics discusses the terminology over the AMX-10RC in some detail and arrives at the conclusion that it should be called an armored reconnaissance vehicle. Primprazed (talk) 20:02, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, it's not just a superficial feature, tracks enable the vehicle to cross more difficult terrain, to climb at steeper inclines, and are also more resistant to firepower than tyres. Whereas wheeled vehicles can generally go faster than tracked vehicles. Tracked vehicles are inherently different to wheeled vehicles. In addition, *wikipedia itself defines tanks as having tracks*. I think the article should note that the definition of this vehicle as a tank has been challenged, as many say it is in fact not one. Deathlibrarian (talk) 00:23, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think taking "light tank" out of the info box would be a good start.
Maybe replacing can with has in the sentence "The vehicle can be described as a wheeled tank destroyer or light tank..." would also be beneficial in expressing that while it shouldn't be described as a tank it has been. Primprazed (talk) 18:01, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
There was actually a lot of debate about it when they were donated to Ukraine, so I have noted that there was debate about its status, and noted that it classification as a tank is debated, and added references. Both the two sources I found and linked come to the conclusion it is not a tank (which really, it isn't). Deathlibrarian (talk) 00:52, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
As per Primprazed's suggestion, I have taken light tank out of the infobox. Deathlibrarian (talk) 00:55, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Nickname

Does it have a nickname or troops actually call it AMX-10RC? Elendal (talk) 21:51, 13 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

38 AMX given to Ukraine

edit

In a interview, the french senator Philippe Folliot that goes on Ukraine for NATO missions, said that Ukranian force told him they received 38 AMX-10 RCR. Is that enough of a source to clarify the numbers ? Here's the link of the interview, in french.

Small correction, he said 38 AMX-10 without confirming it's the RCR versions 178.23.152.132 (talk) 07:06, 12 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Armour/armor

edit
Both spellings are present in this article – do we use American spelling or English spelling in an article about a French vehicle? Springnuts (talk) 11:50, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Brigades?

edit

Is there an existing list of French brigades that still use the AMX 10RC? Rupertys (talk) 01:03, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
