- 'Abu Musa' by itself covers many topics: names, places, events etc. Following what how articles are normally titled (specification in brackets eg. Gummo (song)), I believe the new title would fit best along other articles of similar title and topic. Fahambnd (talk) 13:43, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- That's not a good comparison. Instead it compare with other Island articles, such as Rhode Island, Easter Island, Alcatraz Island etc. None of them have brackets. --HistoryofIran (talk) 20:35, 22 June 2019 (UTC)

Relisting note I have speedy closed the move request to "Abu Musa Island" below, as that should be considered as part of this RM. I am relisting this so that it too can be considered. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 20:40, 28 June 2019 (UTC)- Oppose. In common parlance, Abu Musa by itself seems to go as PRIMARY to the island, which needs no further qualifier as in Tahiti or Rhodes. The religious figure might be expected to be found at Abu Musa al-Ashari, the most CONCISE search term. Conversely, someone looking for Saint Paul, Minnesota would know they have to go a step further than Saint Paul, the PRIMARY to the religious figure. Havradim (talk) 00:16, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

There is no need for Arabic pronunciation in the article
editThis island belongs to Iran and only its Persian pronunciation should be mentioned in the article. Not the pronunciation of another country. مصطفی کوهستانی (talk) 02:22, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Absolute ownership of the island
editThe island is owned by Iran, according to a satellite photo. There is no connection with the UAE Irandamavand (talk) 17:26, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
- Given that the UAE still claims to the island, and that the island was formerly administered by the Emirate of Sharjah prior to the Iranian invasion, there absolutely is a connection to the UAE. 216.181.221.63 (talk) 22:31, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
