Fair use rationale for Image:Software-creations-uk-company-logo.jpg

edit

Image:Software-creations-uk-company-logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Current status?

edit

Is there anyone who can contribute to information regarding the company's status as of August 2008, and whether or not they are defunct or were bought out? The article's header is unsuccessful at covering this. Thanks. –Hucz (talk) 20:23, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Marc Wilding (talk) 15:32, 13 September 2011 (UTC)I was the Studio General Manager at Acclaim Studios Manchester from December 2002 to August 2004. Also VP of Development at Software Creations Ltd. In August 2004 the parent compamny Acclaim Entertainment Inc went into receivership in the United States. The UK Studios were therefore closed along with the European HQ in London. Some of the IP were sold on. For Example THQ picked up Juice being produced by Juice games in Warrington. Other IP's were picked up by other publishers. The name Acclaim was also sold. Although I believe this was only the name and not the assets.Reply

ZX Spectrum ports

edit

They did a bunch of ZX Spectrum ports that aren't listed in the article. Since Wikipedia is retarded, the "captcha" is coming up blank and I can't post a link, but if you put this string through ROT13 you will get the Web address of a list of those ports they did: uggc://jjj.jbeyqbsfcrpgehz.bet/vasbfrrxcho.ptv?ertrkc=^Fbsgjner+Perngvbaf$&zbqry=fcrpgehz 86.131.89.40 (talk) 01:04, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Acclaim Studios ManchesterSoftware Creations – This defunct studio was far better known by its original, longtime name, and not the current title, which was only in place for two years and appeared on only a couple of games, whereas the original name was used for dozens of games. The original name of vastly more recognizable. I'd even boldly say the 2018 move to this name was a total mistake, though it apparently was in part prompted by getting away from unnecessary disambiguation (the only other article was for a long-gone, never notable BBS company that prevented this article from having the proper title. The undisambiguated title is currently a redirect to here. oknazevad (talk) 22:00, 13 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
