editCan we change the description on this page from "List of major characters" to simply "List of characters"? Or if not, can we make a separate "List of minor characters" list? --Elonka 19:13, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- On this, it would be hard, since everyone is more important to someone than another. For example, the younger fans will say the kids are the main part of the show, the older fans will say "Luke and Laura ARE GH." it's a matter of opinion to the reader who's major and minor truthfully. However, I do agree that if you were only on for a bit, you don't belong on here. Like I would say to be a MAJOR character you'd have to have been a player in a major storyline (that would include the new baby since the last month was all about that kid), not just someone there for the case in point. I don't know if that makes sense, but the entire point is it would be hard to differentiate between major and minor. I mean for instance, look at how the couples sections turned out. People putting in couple's that were only ONS's because of the fanbase that wanted them together. It would be the same for characters. DJ-Siren 08:14, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Merge all non notable characters
editThere are many stand alone articles for characters such as Jason Morgan which fail the notability guidelines for having a stand alone article such as significant coverage by reliable third party sources. Long term failure for sources to be added to the article will result in a merge and redirect as per policy. (and note that a Wikipedia editor claiming "s/he is obviously a major character" is NOT one of the criteria.) Active Banana (bananaphone 23:01, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Merging needed
editThere was a List of miscellaneous General Hospital characters, which seems to have been deleted. Unfortunately, this means that some important character information was lost (for example, where is Lila Quartermaine now? This information needs to be recovered and merged into this article. --Elonka 02:14, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
- After merging some stuff, and fixing a gazillion redirects, things seem to be fairly untangled now. We may still have some undue weight issues though, since the page at List of past General Hospital characters often has more information on past characters, than there is on currently active characters, but that's going to be a more difficult problem to fix. --Elonka 00:48, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Question about the Article's size
editIs this article General Hospital: list of charecters too long to fit all this information? What are sub articles? MegaVergan(Talk)—Preceding undated comment added by MegaVergan (talk • contribs) 16:45, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

editGrant Putnam
editCan I ask why? He was a important character that warranted his own page. That page needed to expanded, and helped NOT merged without a discussion first!Caringtype1 (talk) 01:29, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry - I couldn't find sufficient information to be able to write more. May I suggest he's included on the List_of_General_Hospital_characters_(1980s) page as a new section rather than an individual page? Do you know enough about him to write that section? Thanks! Kelly Marie 0812 (talk) 02:00, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Actually I've never heard of him before reading his page and looking him up, but I really think you should suggest mergers on talk pages before you just go ahead and merge them without a proper discussion first. Please keep in mind that other editors can have important opinions for improvements to articles, without having to merge them. Anyway, I'll look for some info/sources to add a section about Putnam to the character list for the 80s. But Im going out of town on vacation tomorrow, so I might not have time to write up the section.Caringtype1 (talk) 02:07, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, looking more into it now he was part of a major storyline. I will add a section on the 80s page and fix all the links, if you have any information on him you can add that would be great. Sorry for my quick merge on this one, I came across his stub while fixing another character and thought I'd redirect it while I had the chance. Kelly Marie 0812 (talk) 02:23, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Yes that seems like the best thing to do. But you did it with Putnam , Amy Vining, and others, where you merged them without a discussion, or even citing a reason in the edit summary. Im not sure why you felt merge was necessary, but before you merge any others please suggest it on both talk pages, or place a tag on the page or something. Because other editors opinions are valuable, and their contributions could have helped improve the articles instead or merging them. Just keep that in mind before you try to merge another article.Caringtype1 (talk) 02:28, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- I've added Grant Putnam on List_of_General_Hospital_characters_(1980s)#Grant_Putnam and included some basic info and a couple of sources. Additions/comments appreciated. I believe I've fixed the redirect and links as well. Kelly Marie 0812 (talk) 03:10, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Merged Amy Vining
editI've included Amy Vining on List_of_General_Hospital_characters_(1970s)#Amy_Vining and moved the redirect and merge tag there. Kelly Marie 0812 (talk) 18:09, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
Reginald Jennings
editThoughts on merging Reginald_Jennings into his entry on this page? Thanks! Kelly Marie 0812 (talk) 03:02, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Cheryl Stansbury
editThoughts on merging Cheryl_Stansbury here? I'm not sure she was pivotal enough to be included on the List_of_General_Hospital_characters_(1980s) page? Thanks! Kelly Marie 0812 (talk) 01:09, 24 August 2012 (UTC)
To be honest I've never heard of this character, so I can't really speak to her notability, but I the page includes no helpful information, and what it includes can be added here, so I think a merge is fine.Caringtype1 (talk) 03:56, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
- She was the biological mother of Lucas Jones, so she was involved in the storyline of his adoption by Bobbie Spencer, but I agree there isn't enough substantial info in the stub article. Thank you! Kelly Marie 0812 (talk) 18:03, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Layout/Organization Tag
editJust wondering what needs to be organized to comply and remove the layout message/tag? Thanks! Kelly Marie 0812 (talk) 03:55, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
Port Charles characters
editI'm curious about characters that primarily appeared on Port Charles such as Greg Cooper, Julie Morris Devlin, and David Bordisso; they're listed on here as being General Hospital characters. I watched GH during those years and if they ever appeared on "the big show," then it was for the Nurses' Ball episodes, which occurred annually for a week. IMDB lists Lisa Ann Hadley (Julie) as being on GH for 1997-2000. How shall this be handled? I have actor information that I could add to this page, but I hesitate to do so because I can't confirm for certain that all of those characters appeared on GH. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Inhan Lagur (talk • contribs) 22:18, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
- Imdb isn't considered reliable for the reason it is user edited. There is a separate List_of_Port_Charles_characters, my opinion is to include them there. That article could definitely use some work and sourcing. Kelly Marie 0812 (talk) 01:31, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks re: IMDB. I used those citiations for the actors I added today, I also have the book General Hospital: The Complete Scrapbook that has a complete cast section in the back from 1963-95, as well as SOD issues. I just have to make sure I have down the proper ways to cite books and magazines! Inhan Lagur (talk) 02:21, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
Merge proposal.
editIs there any reason why the set of pages below cannot be merged into the main character list?
Christina (Baldwin) Collins
editWhile she was "adopted" by Scott Baldwin as an infant, her mother, Julie Devlin, took her back. When she found out she was dying, she gave custody of Christina to Kevin and Lucy; therefore, she is Kevin and Lucy's legal daughter, NOT Scott Baldwin's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.92.192.63 (talk) 09:15, 5 August 2015 (UTC)
Should this list be referenced in WikiProject Hospitals?
editI question whether this list should even be listed as being significant to WikiProject Hospitals. This is about a daytime fictional television show. Bill Pollard (talk) 05:02, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
