F-14 Tomcats

edit

I was of the impression that the Iranian Air Force still uses the F-14 considering the recent uproar in Congress regarding sales of F-14 parts to Iran. (Psychoneko 07:25, 7 April 2007 (UTC))Reply

And you're right. But that's the IRIAF, not the AFAGIR. Buckshot06 22:18, 6 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

You are right. iran operates about 50 F14s and they are under IRIAF not IRGC Air Force. I deleted the entry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Magician 60 (talkcontribs) 22:50, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copyvio

edit

The lead description of the AFAGIR's aircraft forces is a copyvio, and needs to be rewritten or deleted. Buckshot06 18:15, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Fajr-3.jpg

edit

Image:Fajr-3.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

AFAGIR

edit

I have never seen the Revolutionary Guards Air Force termed "AFAGIR", except in this article and on websites directly copying this article. The "alternative" name, "Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps Air Force" or IRGC AF, is by far the more common.

I propose changing the name throughout from AFAGIR to IRGC AF.

By february 2010, two new missiles

edit

Two new missiles are reviled, anti-armor Toofan-5 (Hurricane) missile and laser guided anti-helicopter Qaem rocket. These should be added to the list, plus maybe an own article for the missiles of Iran could be an idea. [1] 83.108.194.198 (talk) 17:04, 6 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

new info

edit

According to Iran state news:

"The new generation of long-range ground-to-ground ballistic missile with a fragmentation warhead and the laser-guided air-to-surface and surface-to-surface missile dubbed Bina (Insightful) have been successfully test-fired," (link) --PLNR (talk) 13:16, 11 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Markings

edit

This article currently lacks any information about the markings displayed on the aircraft of the AFAGIR/IRGC AF. Considering that the AGIR/IRGC logo as well as the Iranian, national flag and roundel are displayed on these aircraft, some text explaining this, could be added. Images could also be added. What do others think of this? --Dreddmoto (talk) 16:44, 28 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Content removal

edit

@Pahlevun: you say in your edit summary [2] that this content had "No source", but it did have a source from CIA.gov [3]. Can you please explain your edit? Fad Ariff (talk) 11:58, 18 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

The source from Nuclear Threat Initiative did not say that any of those locations are part of the IRGCASF (Some like Imam Khomeini Space Launch Terminal are clearly not IRGC centers). And the source did not give coordinates for the locations. Pahlevun (talk) 12:05, 18 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Pahlevun: since the source seems like a legitimate existing source then what do you think about adding this information (without the coordinates) to a more relevant article like Iranian underground missile bases or Iranian missile bases? Do you have any suggestions?Fad Ariff (talk) 12:08, 20 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Fad Ariff: I saw only one location tagged as "launching and underground facility" in the map by the Nuclear Threat Initiative, which is Bakhtarun (I guess the source meant Bakhtaran, the former name of Kermanshah). I have absolutely no problem with adding that to the above-mentioned article when it is attributed to the source. Pahlevun (talk) 15:37, 20 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
