Can somebody transliterate the ranks? I mean literatim, not a translation. Trekphiler (talk) 16:01, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Table

edit

I made the table of historical military ranks long ago and had forgotten to specify the sources. Now I do not remember them. I would be grateful to those who find these sources. But, please, do not confuse years, Ranks were often changed.UeArtemis (talk) 17:04, 26 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wrong ranking

edit

In the Ukrainian People's Republic military Otaman was a genral rank. There also was the General of the Army rank as well Holovny Otaman (Chief Otaman). Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 12:08, 9 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not full true. I pointed out to the year of using this ranks. The Table of Ranks was often changed in those days. We have insignia for this Navy and Army ranks of the UNR, so I think all is OK.UeArtemis (talk) 14:12, 19 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
As I know, Chief Otaman is the rank of the Ukrainian State (Hetmanate), not the Republic.UeArtemis (talk) 18:39, 20 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

That does not really mean it's necessary true, does it? Why don't you do more research? Otaman ranks were introduced by the General Bulawa of the Ukrainian People's Republic. General Bulawa was a General Staff of the Ukrainian Army early in the 20th century that consisted of Otamans (Generals) who headed the former Russian Imperial Army formations usually Corps and Divisions. Among such were Otamans Bolbochan, Osetskiy, Petriv, Hryhoriev, Hrekov, and many others. On November 13, 1918 Otaman Hrekov introduced the rank of the Chief Otaman which was given to Symon Petlyura as the commander in chief. Here is another encyclopedic reference that defeats your perception of otaman rank Encyclopedia of Ukraine. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 14:49, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

If you have insignia, edit! But as I said "в литературе довольно сильный бардак", so check all once again before editing.--Юе Артеміс (talk) 16:26, 10 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Say, what? That don't make any sense. How are they can be equal? Captain is the company commander, it is the universal fact.

...Navy captain...UeArtemis (talk) 14:06, 19 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

@Skjoldbro: Many people in Ukraine think that squad leader is "buck" sergeant (OR-5) or corporal (OR-4), and because of that reformers use codes wrong.--Юе Артеміс (talk) 18:48, 7 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Rank insignia of supreme commander

It seems that the President of Ukraine as supreme commander has his own rank insignia: http://www.president.gov.ua/en/gallery/2317.html#39003 --Kalte Dusche (talk) 13:12, 5 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
