Updates needed to Urban Airship's Wikipedia entry

edit

Hi, I'm an Urban Airship employee and this week we rebranded the company to Airship. Does that mean all company name references should be updated to the current name or left as historical references? We have a new logo available here: https://www.airship.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Airship-Logo-Pack-2019.zip, but it is unclear how to provide copyright/trademark notice in order to share it.

It also seems like this page hasn't been updated in a while and I'd be happy to make edits directly, but wanted to make sure that was ok with moderators. Here are milestones that would make the profile more complete:

In March 2017, Urban Airship expanded to web notifications [1] In January 2018, Urban Airship added native support for email and SMS, and predictive machine learning to send messages when mobile users are most likely to engage [2] In March 2018, Urban Airship introduced in-app automation for instant messages triggered by multiple user behaviors [3] In May 2018, Airship worked with Google Pay to create ticketing and boarding pass experiences [4] In January 2019, Airship acquired European competitor Accengage [5] In April 2019, Urban Airship streamlined its name to Airship and revealed a new brand identity and website (https://www.airship.com) [6]. Airship's Customer Engagement Platform supports emerging channels like RCS for Vodafone through its Open Channel API [7]

Also, I suggest removing the end sentence of the current profile: "In September 2018, Urban Airship released beta SDK for iOS." We release SDKs annually for iOS and Android as those platforms make enhancements, so it's not a particularly unique milestone.

  1. With regards to making changes, it is strongly suggested that you leave editing of the article to editors who are not affiliated with the company. Suggesting edits here on the talk page is the preferred route for getting information to and from the article.
  2. With regards to the name change, all instances of the name should reflect the new name. As there is not a longstanding history of association with the older name, the change will be easier to implement. However, the article's name itself cannot be changed simply to "Airship", as that name is already taken. The article's name will need to be changed to something like Airship (company).
  3. The file for the new logo must be uploaded to Wikipedia along with the required licensing before it may be added to the article. You may use the File Upload Wizard to accomplish this.
  4. With regards to the requested information, the citations provided with the suggested prose ought to be placed using the citation style already in use with the article, which in this case is Citation Style 1 (CS1)
  5. A disclosure needs to be made by you on your own talk page. You may use {{userboxCOI}}. I can post the {{connected contributor (paid)}} template here on this talk page for you.
When ready to proceed, kindly resubmit your request, taking care to include:
  1. the title that the new article should carry
  2. the filename of the logo you've uploaded
  3. references formatted using CS1
Please submit this new request below my reply post, using a new level 2 heading (like this: ==Edit request & date==) along with a new {{request edit}} template immediately underneath the heading. Thank you! Regards,  Spintendo  22:38, 22 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Urban AirshipAirship (company) – The company dropped "Urban" from its name and is now just called "Airship."[1][2] Suggest a move to "Airship (Company)" and changing all the references to "Urban Airship" in the article. I am using the "controversial move" process, since I work for Airship and therefore have a conflict of interest. Pinging @Tas50:, who created the article in 2011 in case they want to chime in. • Comment – We at least need to see evidence that reliable sources have started using the new name before we retitle the article. The news of a name change is not enough. You can report the name change in the article and cite the news articles on it, but moving to the new name can come later. Dicklyon (talk) 05:03, 3 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
If it helps, here are some trade publications that have used the new “Airship” name.[ https://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/336185/gdpr-impact-global-app-audiences-grow-nearly-17.html][3][https://www.ana.net/blogs/show/id/mm-blog-2019-06-why-sms-customer-engagement A Google search for “’Urban Airship’ mobile marketing” garners 69,300 results while “’Airship’ mobile marketing’” has 447,000. How long do companies ordinarily have to wait before a name-change goes into effect? CoreyGault (talk) 18:14, 3 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
