Name

edit

It seems odd that this article should be under the family name Kadhafi, when elsewhere on Wikipedia the name is transliterated/translated as Gaddafi (and even on this page). Is there a particular reason for this, or is it just that the author of this page chose to transliterate the name in a different way. If it is the latter, it would make sense to move to the more common (for Wikipedia) version. The sources quoted use neither spelling! Skinsmoke (talk) 22:17, 21 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

shouldn't it be billah instead of billal? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.77.4.43 (talk) 23:20, 23 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Or simply "Moatassem al-Gaddafi"? -- 92.4.64.200 (talk) 19:01, 19 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Is nothing more known about this person - his date of birth, his education, career, etc, etc ? The main thrust of the entry seems to be to promote speculation regarding Mr Gaddafi's possible involvement in the death of a prisoner, which hardly strikes me as living up to Wikipedia's customary standards. If more information on the subject cannot be provided, than I suggest that the best alternative would be to delete the entry in its entirety.... Mhenriday (talk) 16:26, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

No consensus to move. Maybe with supporting material and individual nominations this could pass. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:23, 14 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

– So is there any common usage we can go by? Marcus Qwertyus 09:40, 5 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Huh? Rennell435 (talk) 01:31, 7 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
I mean, we moved Muammar Gaddafi's page so unless there is a reason not to, we should try to make the article titles consistent. Marcus Qwertyus 03:34, 7 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ah I see. Thanks. With the son, are you proposing Muhammad Gaddafi as the new name? Rennell435 (talk) 11:31, 7 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Fixed. Marcus Qwertyus 23:08, 7 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • I procedurally oppose this to allow a chance for opposing evidence to be presented since no supporting evidence is given. Consistency itself is not a reason for these moves unless, as with the case of Papa Moammar, the transliterations are all over the place with these being marginally more common. —  AjaxSmack  02:39, 11 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Moatassem GaddafiMutassim Gaddafi – 06:51, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

In many important sources (Bloomberg Businessweek[1], BBC World News[2], CNN[3]) he is referred as "Mutassim Gaddafi" not with the obscure name "Al-Mu'tasim-Billah al-Gaddafi". Mr. D. E. Mophon (talk) 18:04, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Adding the proper template to this move request and supporting it. Mutassim is far more WP:COMMON in English-language sources than "Moatassem"; a search for "moatassem gaddafi" on Google yields 20,000 hits, while "mutassim gaddafi" garners almost 20 times as many. -Kudzu1 (talk) 04:14, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

...therefore, I have removed the phrase "at the end of the 2011 Libyan civil war", and replaced it by "during the 2011...". 82.176.209.52 (talk) 20:24, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Mutassim's ID card

edit

I found a picture of an ID card on an Arab forum that is apparently Mutassim - and the date of birth apparently reads 1974-12-18.

But someone who knows the Libyan Arab dialect would be best in knowing exactly what is written on the card and if it indeed refers to his birthdate. But it looks a lot like him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.95.144.31 (talk) 05:05, 18 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
