Extreme gender difference in articles

edit

I happened to come to this article and the Alice MacLennan article via the DYK links on the front page. I was expecting some gender disparity in the articles -- but, really, a detailed and moderately lengthy article vs a stub? A long list of professional and recognition titles in the lede vs, well, not one? for two people of comparable accomplishments (both were awarded the OA)? By way of putting my work where my mouth is, I made a start in rectifying that by adding in two awards that husband and wife received in common, but my time is sharply limited today. Can some of those editors (TRM - I'm looking at you!) volunteer at least half the time they devoted to the husband's article to expanding the wife's article as well? At the very very least, can someone track down her correct list of professional and recognition titles and add those into her article? - Tenebris 66.11.171.90 (talk) 18:26, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

To be fair, this article was started two years and two days ago; the article on Ms. MacLennan just three weeks ago. Also, given that she's been dead now for three years, there may be less current material online to use as sourcing (i.e., the "about presenter" pages at websites for conferences ... the ones from past years are usually archived or gone by this time frame. But of course the Wayback Machine may be helpful). Daniel Case (talk) 21:40, 4 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
@66.11.171.90: @Daniel Case: It would be great to bring Alice's article up to the standard of Alastair's. Once I became aware there was an article about Alice, I went looking for references and I found them quite thin on the ground. So her article may never be as detailed, but I'm sure we can improve it - a project for the coming holiday season, perhaps? --Gronk Oz (talk) 09:57, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
